What opportunities have you had to grow?
At Corendon, I have always been given room to learn and develop. After several years in F&B, I decided to step out of my comfort zone and take on a new challenge as Front Office Supervisor. In that role, I learned a completely different side of the hotel. Within two years, I was promoted to Operations Manager, overseeing multiple departments, including the spa, technical services, housekeeping, F&B, and Front Office.

Can you tell us how your career at Corendon Hotels & Resorts began?
My career at Corendon began when the then General Manager, with whom I had worked in the past, asked me to join The College Hotel Amsterdam. This came at the perfect time as I had just moved to Amsterdam. My first role at Corendon was as a part-time F&B team member.

What tip(s) would you give to new colleagues? My tip for new colleagues is to never underestimate yourself and to stay curious. You’re never really done learning. Set a goal for yourself each year: what do you want to learn or develop within your role? It gives direction to your personal growth, keeps you sharp, and ensures that over time you can grow within the organization.

An introductory meeting with the Department Manager or Team Leader. Discussing your CV and providing a detailed overview of the role for alignment and mutual interest.

Final conversation with the General Manager to align expectations, explore your potential contribution, and discuss overall fit with hotel’s strategic goals and culture.
